Luche Libre AAA: Heroes del Ring looks like an amazing game. Centered around the traditional form of Mexican professional wrestling, it’s a fascinating look at a cultural phenomenon that seems to be really trying to stay true to its roots. Plus, it’s pretty damn fun.
Unfortunately, folks who planned to purchase Lucha Libre on Wii will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on it as the release for Nintendo’s console has been pushed back into November. The PS3 and 360 versions will still be in stores next week as originally planned.
The other bit of bad news is that while you’ll still be able to pick up your copy on two out of three consoles on October 12th, you’ll be doing it without the promised pre-order bonus of a luchadore mask. The bonus item has received a qualification of non-compliance under the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008, driving Slang to cancel the promotion in the US and Canada.
Bummer all around. Slang has said they’re working to secure a replacement gift for those who pre-order that is still consistent with their goals of conveying the rich tradition of luchadore, but it’s hard to imagine that they’ll come up with anything quite as cool as those masks.
