Funny joke: Slang and Konami had originally scheduled to ship its Mexican wrestling title, Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes del Ring the same time Madden NFL 11 was hitting shelves.
Yup.
Well, no longer. The title is now set to hit shelves on October 12 to “maximize the game’s potential, while taking full advantage of the upcoming holiday season.” In other words, to get it the hell away from the launch of EA Sports’ “sure thing” juggernaut.
Heroes del Ring could be the greatest wrestling game ever developed. No, scratch that — it could be the greatest game ever developed, and come with wads of cash and tiny bags of cocaine stuffed into the instruction manual. But it would die on the retail vine if released anywhere near Madden. Good move, guys.
Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes del Ring is in development for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DSiWare, and PlayStation Portable. It will feature more masks than any other wrestling game to date.
