[Mash Tactics airs Monday through Friday at 4p.m. Pacific on Dtoid.TV. Watch Rick ‘King Foom’ Olson play a variety of games, each day with its own theme. With a heavy focus on community and viewer interaction, you can be as much a part of the show as anything else.]

Tonight on Mash Tactics, we have a double feature that is damn near guaranteed to pop your eyes from their sockets, and perchance melt your brain just a bit. In only the very best of ways of course. To start the show, we’ll be kicking things off with a wee bit of Savant AscensionIf you’ve never heard of it, allow me to try and explain. Picture a tough-as-nails bullet-hell shooter with an art style slightly reminiscent of Castlevania, add in an amazing electronic soundtrack, then top it all off with an addictive hook to beat your previous high score, and you’re starting to get the picture.

Leaving no time to recover from that intense madness, we’ll be jumping right into another slightly insane twitch-o-thon in the form of Rise of the Triad. If you somehow missed out on the original back in the day, now is your chance to witness the simple pleasures of lightning-fast, old-school first-person shooters. Pleasures such as blasting the holy hell out of anything that moves with an explosive arsenal, watching bodies spray blood like it was coming out of a high-pressure hose, gratuitous dismemberment, and of course the occasional pair of eyeballs getting blown onto the inside of your monitor. It’s really all about the little things in life, isn’t it?

QotD: What is the most intense game that you’ve ever played?
