With Patapon 2 looming on the horizon, it should come as no surprise that Sony will continue its cross-promotional chicanery by pimping the PSP rhythm game via LittleBigPlanet, aka Sony’s interactive billboard. It shouldn’t be a surprise, no, but looking at the above Sackboy costume, I can’t help feeling astonished.
Patapon 2 is coming to America soon, and SCEA are celebrating by bringing this disturbing costume to the world of LittleBigPlanet. It would seem that this will be a regular promotional feature for upcoming exclusive games.
It’s a good idea as well. This kind of cross-promotion isn’t something you see on the other systems, and it’s important that the PS3 finds ways to differentiate itself from the Wii and Xbox 360. Sure, it’s just adveritising, but it’s unique and rather fun advertising, which is the best kind.
