WayForward has some actual news to reveal regarding Shantae 5 beyond a release window and platforms. By way of Twitter, we now know that they have contracted out Studio Trigger, known for the recent Little Witch Academia anime as well as their work on numerous animations in gaming, to handle the opening animation for Shantae 5. “

More details are coming soon,” but WayForward has given us a look at both Shantae and her frenemy Risky Boots ahead of the full rundown. I’m thrilled the spirit of opening animations are still alive and well, after Sonic CD blew this whole concept wide open with the “Sonic Boom” intro.

Shantae 5 was revealed earlier this year and is somehow still bound for a 2019 release date. When it does arrive, it’ll hit PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and the Apple Arcade.
