Legendary Pictures, the production company behind blockbuster films like 300 and Clash of the Titans, has picked up the film rights for the Mass Effect franchise. This would lead one to suspect the long-suspected: Someday, somewhere, there may be a Mass Effect film. If they can do Asteroids, this ought to be a snap.
Honestly, I don’t care that they’re going to make a Mass Effect movie. Though I recognize and respect the depth and attention to detail in the universe, I’m not so invested in it that the idea of a simplified tale being told on the silver screen is an affront. I’m sure for some, that’s not the case.
What excites me is the idea of another science-fiction film with a budget. I’m endlessly hopeful that they’ll turn out great.
