Sonic Adventure 2 is a pretty strange game. I remember playing it for the first time with my cousin, plugging away at multiplayer for 10 hours straight. For that reason, I’ve always had a soft spot for the Adventure sequel, even if it wasn’t nearly as good.
This video from DidYouKnowGaming sheds light on some of the lesser-known concepts in Adventure 2, including the “enhanced American influence,” (beyond the obvious San Francisco levels), Pepsi Man references, the fact that Robotnik’s cousin may have a fictional form of AIDS (and Shadow the Hedgehog was the result of a race for the cure), and even the story behind Sonic’s shoes.
Uh, I kind of want to play it again.
