League of Legends: 15 million players and counting

Recommended Videos

When Riot Games first introduced League of Legends in 2009, I wasn’t sure how quickly it was going to catch on. In retrospect, it seems silly that there was ever a doubt in my mind. The company is now saying the title has surpassed 15 million registered players.

Apparently, upwards of a million League of Legends games are played each day, with daily time spent playing falling around 3.7 million hours. And the competitive scene! Can’t forget about that. 1,690,000 viewers watched the online broadcast of the League of Legends Season One Championship.

Expect the multiplayer online battle arena genre to blow up with newcomers soon enough. Hell, it’s already started.
