LBP image importing shot down by dev, but picture says differently

Recently, we reported that LittleBigPlanet would be getting an image importation tool by this Christmas. Since then, developer Sam_Protagonist spoke up on the official PlayStation message board saying that while image importation is “technically viable,” there are currently “no plans to introduce it for a variety of reasons.”

No image importing then, right? Unfortunately, these things tend not to be so cut and dry. The above picture is currently being hosted on Media Molecule’s Flickr account and as you can see, pictures the Image Import Tool in all its glory. The shot was uploaded yesterday, which means several days after Sam_Protagonist made his statement.

I assume that we will all be happy campers and uploading our beautiful high-resolution shots of Mr. Destructoid into LBP in the near future. Evans told PS3 Attitude that the work on the tool was “done” and that the only thing left was for it to “go through QA and then certification.” Obviously, there is some sort of miscommunication going on, but we’ll be sure to stay on top of it.
