Latest update adds functionality to PS3 Home beta, still not very exciting

Hey, you guys remember PlayStation Home, the virtual community-based PlayStation Network service that is going to revolutionize the way we interact with games and one another? Yeah, it’s been pretty quiet on that front since the launch was delayed until Spring 2008, but never fear — it’s still coming along. 

The beta (which most of us, including myself, aren’t participating in) has just been updated with some new, uh, functionality in the form of build 0.7.7. From ThreeSpeech

  • There’s a new building in the world, although it’s currently one that can’t be entered
  • You are finally able to enter your Home Space’s patio
  • You can now use your own pictures in your Home Space
  • A game launching option has been added, though it is not functioning completely at the present time
  • The cinema’s movie theatres have transferred from the second floor to the first floor
  • America, Japan, and Europe each have their own server now

Huh. OK, well, they’re working here guys. It’s getting there, and when PlayStation Home launches next Spring, there’s going to be a lot more to do than emote, watch trailers of six-month-old movies, and play pool. Well, at least we hope there will be …
