After hardly one week on the shelves, Square Enix’s Xbox 360 RPG The Last Remnant is getting its first batch of downloadable content starting on December 1. The good news is that most of its free. The bad news is … have you even come close to finishing The Last Remnant yet?
And the DLC is …
December 1 (Silver members: December 8)
- “The Key of Ancient Ruins”: There’s a key, you unlock some ruins. Surprise.
Cost: Free- “Challenge Pack 1: Purgatory’s Sins”: This is a pack of “ultra-challenging guild tasks.” As Square put it, “adequate game progression is necessary.” Read: don’t suck.
Cost: FreeDecember 15 (both Gold and Silver members)
- “March to War Set”: Three unlockable formations — Scatterswarm, Goblet, and Catapult — will boost your tactical strength in battles.
Cost: 100 MS PointsDecember 22 (Silver members: December 29)
- “Challenge Pack 2: The Price of Lies”: You thought Challenge Pack 1 was challenging? You ain’t seen s**t.

The free stuff seems like a given for most gamers; but will you spend 100 MS Points on the three formations?
