Again: L.A. Noire is still happening. In a recent fan Q&A, Rockstar Games confirmed that the 1940s-themed game remains in development, and more importantly, things were going smoothly with it. Details on the title, however, will remain scarce for the time being. “While we have yet to announce a definitive release date, L.A. Noire is coming along quite splendidly,” the Rockstar representative wrote, “and we’re going to have details to share with you all very soon.”
Earlier this month, Take-Two confirmed its existence as well. But the publisher didn’t call it a Team Bondi game. Instead, it was identified as a Rockstar Games, uh, game — a sign that something may have changed.
L.A. Noire isn’t slated as a 2010 release, so we’ll have to see how “soon” is “very soon,” but we remain hopeful that Rockstar will dish out the goods in a timely manner. The developer isn’t in the business of holding back, that’s for sure.

[Update: I don’t know how I managed it, but I changed a word Rockstar’s quote. Many apologies; “swimmingly” has been changed to “splendidly,” the original wording. –Brad]
