If you’re feeling stumped by the Kurakat Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom, don’t despair. In addition to being one of the more interesting shrines in the game, it is also among the hardest, and it requires a bit of abstract thinking to finish.

Where to Find the Kurakat Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom

The challenge starts with finding the shrine. It does not look like a shrine at all, so it is easy to miss. It is located in Lanayru, just east of Quatta’s Shelf. The coordinates are: 2398, -0519, 0154.

Instead of a shrine, Link will find a large stone block with a Steward Construct on top. Speak to the robot to start the shrine quest.

How to Solve the Kurakat Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom

Beside the Steward Construct, there is a stone block that can be rotated. It has slots, and there are two wooden boards next to it. The Steward Construct presents a rather cryptic clue. To make the shrine appear, Link must “dye the white pattern black when the sun awakens in the sky”.

To solve the puzzle, locate the pattern described in the riddle. The “white pattern” is on a rock facing the stone block, and it vaguely looks like an “S”. You should notice that the stone casts a shadow over the pattern, though it doesn’t cover it entirely. The objective is to make the cube’s shadow entirely cover the pattern.

First, rotate the stone block until the side with a horizontal slot high up is facing Link. Next, use Ultrahand to grab one of the wooden boards and insert it into the slot. Grab the other board and fuse it to the first board perpendicularly. Once this is done, rotate the stone block until the shadow cast by the wooden boards roughly aligns with the top line of the “S” pattern.

Lastly, head to the campfire nearby and sleep until “the sun awakens in the sky” – that’s morning. Not long after Link rises, the stone block’s shadow should align just right to cover the entire pattern. If not, do the necessary adjustments by rotating the stone block.

Once the pattern is covered by shadows, the shrine will appear. As a reward, Link can collect a Light of Blessing and a Magic Scepter inside. Not bad for a few minutes of work.
