Konami quells rumors of cancellations, sidesteps bloody retribution

Who knows if it was actually true? Maybe it was — maybe one of Konami’s higher-ups got completely throttled, swished the last drop of vodka in the bottle around and thought, “Y’know, Gradius is crap. Let’s get rid of it.” Were this the case, it’s just as likely that the plague-laden corpses hurled through the windows of Konami Japan were what had all of upper management scrambling to squelch Famitsu’s claim that a number of PS3 and Wii titles, including Gradius VI, had been cancelled.

Not long after the news was reported in Famitsu, Konami has issued a response effectively eliminating any risk of their own death at the hands of angry, greased-up shmup fans like me. Gradius VI is still on, as are a number of yet unnamed PS3 and Wii titles due for release in the coming year. Coded Arms Assault, on the other hand, remains cancelled, much to nobody’s dismay. Who gives a crap? Gradius VI lives, people!
