At a Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker news conference, creator Hideo Kojima talked about what he sees for gaming’s future. It looks like he’s dreaming of games that don’t rely on a specific console tech.

“In the near future, we’ll have games that don’t depend on any platform,” said Kojima. “Gamers should be able to take the experience with them in their living rooms, on the go, when they travel – wherever they are and whenever they want to play. It should be the same software and the same experience.”

Yeah, he’s kind of crazy, and that’s why we love him. Now, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan president Hiroshi Kawano wasn’t feeling Kojima’s future dream as much: “It’s a bold prediction. We hope he continues to develop for platforms, but we deeply respect his sense of taking on a challenge.”

That’s corporate speak for don’t listen to that guy.
