Koi-koi! Nintendo’s Pokemon hanafuda cards hitting Japan

Or…Karp-Karp!

Remember when Nintendo began as a hanafuda card manufacturer? I don’t, because I wasn’t alive in 1889, but maybe there are some Highlanders among you fine folk and I’d be remiss if I didn’t encourage you to decapitate each other. There can be only one. And unlike Highlander III, this set of Pokemon-themed hanafuda cards from Nintendo is awesome.

The deck will ship late November, but is available for pre-order now, Anime News Network reports. In Japan. It’s also modestly priced at 2,500 yen (~25 USD). It comes with an arted up instruction booklet and packaging as well. The art comes from the original Pokemon Red and Green pocket monsters. There’s also a framed, uncut set of cards for about $150.

I’ve been rather interested in hanafuda since watching the fabulous Summer Wars. Really wish I could get my hands on this set.
