Koei Tecmo is bringing the new Nobunaga’s Ambition to the West

Standalone follow-up Ascension coming to PC, PS4

Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence – Ascension is a real mouthful, and you know what else? It’s leaving Japan on October 25, 2016. Koei Tecmo confirmed the localized PC and PlayStation 4 release today and passed along a whole mess of screenshots from the Sengoku-era grand strategy game.

Ascension is a standalone expansion that builds on last year‘s Sphere of Influence. Some of the additions, like siege and naval battles, are flashy; others, more subdued. Another big one is Officer Play, a system whereby you can rise the ranks as a lowly Warring States officer to eventually become a great lord.

This is a series I’ve always been intrigued by, even as a kid, but never knew where to start. It seems… overwhelming. I’ve been thinking of watching Kagemusha again, so maybe that’ll get me in the spirit!
