Coming to PS4, PS3, PC in December

Koei Tecmo is all about that grand strategy right now, revealing a new Romance of the Three Kingdoms game following yesterday’s announcement that the latest Nobunaga’s Ambition is coming west in September.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII was unveiled today during a 30th anniversary event at the company’s Yokokama offices. The new project will debut in Japan on December 10 for PlayStation 4, PS3, and PC.

As per usual, the publisher made no mention regarding a potential international release. The last time the series made an appearance outside Japan was with 2007’s Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a series of strategy games based on Luo Guanzhong’s historical novel, which chronicles the fall of ancient China’s Han dynasty, the civil war, and subsequent reunification. It’s also the basis for the Dynasty Warriors series — a curious case of a spinoff overshadowing its source material.
