King files to abandon its ridiculous ‘Candy’ trademark

I’m as tired of hearing about Candy Crush Saga developer King’s trademarking of the word “Candy” as the rest of you, but this is the update many of us have been awaiting: King has filed for express abandonment of the over-reaching trademark in the United States.

King confirmed the filing with Kotaku but didn’t comment on the matter beyond that.

For all of the negative publicity the trademark generated, I wasn’t so sure King would ever back down. Something tells me the company won’t be abandoning its “Saga” trademark.
