Killer Instinct’s training mode gets further detailed

With Killer Instinct drawing nearer, so too are details, specifically about the game’s training modes. You can expect the standard training mode, of course — just you and a dummy with A.I. The twist here is that the previous highest difficulty, aptly named Killer, is trumped by a new “Kyle” setting.

The setting’s namesake comes from Double Helix’s AI programer, who is supposed to be insanely good at the game. More than just blocking the ever-living hell out of all your moves, the Kyle setting is meant to make good reads and predictions which could go a ways to simulating real higher-tier play.

We’ve known about the option to make hitboxes visible, and now Double Helix is confirming the inclusion of frame data. Everything from start-up frames, block advantage, recovery, etc. — what was once a nebulous area for the community to figure out. It’s nice to see Killer Instinct and other fighting games move towards clarity. Injustice did something similar with its practice mode, and I really hope the trend continues.
