Keiji Inafune reveals new stage for Mighty No. 9, game ‘almost done’

That art style is really the plan eh?

Mighty No. 9‘s Keiji Inafune is ringing in the New Year with a look at a new stage for the game. It seems to have a castle-like feel to it, with red carpets and fancy chandeliers. According to the producer/director, the game is “pretty much finished” and they are heading into the porting and promotion stage. So that’s how the finished product is going to look, I guess?

I’m digging the gameplay based on the beta, but the visual style still looks really meh to me. No, it doesn’t need to look exactly like the unrealistic concept art, but the engine itself is very uninspired and bland. I’m wondering how this project will turn out as a whole in the end.

To get a better view of the game in action, check out my playthroughs of all three beta stages below.
