Kane Hodder’s on-screen killing spree continues in Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp

It ain’t Pamela Voorhees this time around

If you know me, you know I love horror films. I also happen to be very much in love with everyone’s favorite masked killer, Jason Voorhees. I even got a cute lil’ bloody cleaver on my leg in preparation for what I wanted to become a tattoo tribute to gore, Jason, and Hellraiser, but that has yet to happen. You know what is happening, though? Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp. You know what you do in that game? You kill people. As a masked killer. At a camp. Sound familiar?

But you don’t just kill people as any old random loser off the street. You’re going to get to take up the mantle of Kane Hodder. Yeah, that Kane Hodder. The one behind the hockey mask in four Friday the 13th films, the very same to play Victor Crowley of Hatchet, and one of my very favorite horror icons. He’ll be lending his talents to the game in the form of motion captured movements, which should make for some interesting aesthetics.

With the revelation of Hodder’s involvement in Summer Camp, Lexington-based Gun Media’s multiplayer endeavor is looking quite enticing to me. But wait! That’s not all! Who’s working alongside Hodder during motion capture sessions? The one and only Tom Savini, of course. You might remember him from a little film called Dawn of the Dead, where he was responsible for the special effects that made audiences’ skin crawl. He’s basically a legend in the horror industry: look him up. Rounding out the trifecta of terror is Henry Manfredini. You know the Friday the 13th score? He’s responsible for that.

I can’t speak for the quality of the game yet, as I’ve not been able to get my hands on it, but I’m hoping for a love letter to my favorite years for slasher horror, and that these three fantastic personalities from the business will serve Gun Media well.

We’ll have to wait until more details surface to comment further, but I’m very pleasantly surprised by the announcements thus far. In the meantime, let’s all have a Friday the 13th marathon. I know Jason X is really terrible and all, but let’s watch that one first. That sleeping bag scene really makes the entire film.
