More disappointing news for those who thought a quality videogame movie might be on the horizon (all one of you). The Latino Review is reporting that the upcoming Kane and Lynch movie, starring Buce Willis and Jamie Foxx, has lost its director, Simon Crane, only two months before the movie was scheduled to go into production.

The report says that Crane wasn’t working out well with the film’s producers and so they have parted ways. This isn’t really bad news in that Crane is some amazing director (he’s a stunt man/second unit director) and now he’s gone, but because any film project that kicks of with controversy is usually headed in a bad direction.

There’s still hope, however. While no new director has been confirmed, Wayne Kramer is said to be in talks with the producers. Kramer previously directed The Cooler and Crossing Over, so while he may not know action quite as well as Crane he is at least an experienced director. Willis and Foxx are still a go for the movie.
