June 29 is still not MvC2’s release date

A little while back Dale “I’m a ninja and could kill you” North reported that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was hitting XBLA and PSN on June 29. It was a little odd because it was a Monday release date and, it turns out, because that date was entirely made up. The game won’t be getting here until some time near the end of July according to Capcom’s Twitter.

Capcom revealed the vague true release date and admitted to a little curiosity in where the rumor had come from by saying, “MvC2 is not actually coming out on June 29, sorry guys. Not sure where that rumor came from, but it’s going to be closer to the end of July.” “That rumor” came from Marvel’s Q1 financial report (.pdf) , which Capcom evidently didn’t read. They also must have missed the hundreds of blog posts about it around the web, which, much like this one, linked to the Q1 report. Is there an exact opposite of Matlock?

So, another month of waiting. Life’s a bitch.
