JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven could give me that 3D brawler fix

Remember The Bouncer?

CyberConnect2’s newest JoJo’s Bizarre game, Eyes of Heaven, is coming along nicely. It’s set to debut on the PS3 and PS4 in Japan on December 17, and this clip should give you a general overview of what the game is trying to accomplish. There are a few great 3D brawlers out there (Anarchy Reigns was so under-appreciated), I’m going to use this opportunity to rant in favor of The Bouncer.

Developed by Squaresoft and DreamFactory shortly after the PS2’s launch, it was panned at the time, but here’s the rub — it was actually awesome. There were a decent amount of modes, every fighter felt different, and I loved the absurd character designs. Mikado, the playable big bad was my main, and I managed to rope in a few friends of mine for at least six months to come over and play it, which had four-player simultaneous battles by way of the multitap.

There aren’t nearly enough 3D brawlers out in the world these days on modern consoles, but there are a lot of good legacy ones if you know where to look. I hope this one measures up.
