While we’re all excited that Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime II: Echoes are getting their New Play Control! “Wiimakes,” what we really want is a new adventure. Damn it.

If the Japanese Web site is any indication, one might be on the way. A new teaser blurb has appeared on the site, reading: “Follow Metroid Prime’s history from the perspective of the Space Pirates.” The image and text isn’t clickable, and could eventually lead to anything, including a Web comic, or a picture of Satoru Iwata dressed up like a Space Pirate rolling around in a pit of money.

But our fingers are crossed for a full game, of course. If the much-talked-about Nintendo DS title, Metroid Dread, were to “wife fwom duh gwave,” we wouldn’t argue. We’ve also heard unsubstantiated rumors of a new 2D Metroid coming to WiiWare some time this year, which sounds far too good to be true.

Whatever it is, we’ll be wearing out our “F5” key until something happens. Not because we’re obsessed, but because it’s our job … OK, we’re obsessed.
