Japanese game market is doing well, tied with porn

It was all bad news there for awhile, but there’s some light at the end of the tunnel for games, and it’s coming from Japan’s game market. The business pulled in 493.7 billion yen last year ($5.96 billion USD) in the Land of the Rising Sun, and that was a year with no major console launches. It was just a bunch of people playing a bunch of portable games on trains. Not bad!

And being Japan, porn is never dong poorly. You know games are on the right track when their business is neck and neck with porn, which did between 400 and 500 billion yen last year, says GoNintendo. There’s some crossover there, of course. There’s horny game stores here that make me blush.
