If you’re a Wii U owner that’s frustrated with the battery life on your GamePad, then there might be some relief on the horizon. A new Wii U enhanced battery pack will be released in Japan in July, promising between “5-8 hours” of usage. After a quick survey of Destructoid’s writers it seems that the normal battery life of the Wii U GamePad is 3 to 4 hours, depending on the game and living room size.

The battery pack is priced at  ¥3,150, which is approximately $31. Also getting a battery upgrade is the humble Wiimote, which is getting a new rechargeable battery pack and charger. Whilst both these battery packs are confirmed for a July release in Japan, there’s no word yet on a North American or European release date.

Japan is also seeing the release of the white Wii U Premium Bundle which will retail for the same price as the black Premium Bundle of  ¥31,500 ($312). Again, no word on a possible release outside of Japan.
