Japan disaster led to disc-only release of Ultimate MvsC3

Many series fans wondered why Capcom decided to release a new disc instead of a downloadable update for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 after yesterday’s announcement. Game producer Ryota Niitsuma told us that the March earthquake and tsunami in Japan created delays that forced them to change up their original plans to release DLC for Marvel vs. Capcom 3

“After the release of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 there were plans to release DLC,” Niitsuma told Destructoid yesterday. “But, as you know, less than a month after the game was released we had the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. That had an impact on everything, and it threw off our whole development schedule.”

“We decided that instead of doing the DLC we could put it all together in one package, add some additional stuff to make it robust and deliver it as a disc,” he continued.

Way to shake things up, stupid tectonic plates.
