It’s official: eSports event IPL 6 canceled

The rumors were true

Following layoffs and restructuring at IGN, The IGN Pro League 6 has been canceled. The competitive gaming event was originally set to take place in Las Vegas from March 28-31.

In an official statement, IGN said: “When we launched IPL two years ago, the eSports landscape was very different with far fewer events than we have now. Now there are more tournaments than ever before competing for people’s time and attention, so we’re no longer in a position to commit the resources required to run another major independent event.

“You should also know that we are working on finding a new home for the IPL team and IGN will continue to broadcast partner tournaments in the future.”

Specifics about how to cancel hotel stays at The Cosmopolitan will be disclosed on Wednesday. Tickets to IPL 6 that were purchased with a credit card will be automatically canceled and the money refunded, while those bought with cash can be refunded in person at the concierge. Here’s hoping they can find a buyer for IPL that’ll make it work from a financial standpoint.
