Just like 30 years ago, it all begins with a decision.

Pokémon Winds and Waves is the 10th generation of Pokémon, launching for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, so we have plenty of time to talk about the choice we all must make: which Starter will you be choosing?

The three adorable Starters in Winds and Waves are a grass bird, fire Pomeranian, and water gecko, and they all have their own appeal. And so I pose the question to you, dear reader, who will you select when it’s time to start your Winds and Waves journey?

Let’s go over the options before the game drops in 2027.

Here’s everything we know so far about the new Starter Pokémon in Winds and Waves.

Browt

  • Category: Bean Chick Pokémon
  • Type: Grass
  • Height: 1′ (0.3 m)
  • Weight: 7.7 lbs. (3.5 kg)
  • Ability: Overgrow

Look at those EYEBROWS! This unibrow-wearing “bean chick” is hilarious, and already gaining legions of fans for its funny-looking design. But a potential Grass/Flying type? That’s tough!

Pombon

  • Category: Puppy Pokémon
  • Type: Fire
  • Height: 1′4″ (0.4 m)
  • Weight: 14.8 lbs. (6.7 kg)
  • Ability: Blaze

Dog-lovers everywhere are shrieking. The fluffy, yapping Pomeranian breed is bringing the flames with its Blaze ability, and its staggering weight (for a puppy) at 14.8 pounds. What could this evolve into?

Gecqua

  • Category: Water Gecko Pokémon
  • Type: Water
  • Height: 1′ (0.3 m)
  • Weight: 9.5 lbs. (4.3 kg)
  • Ability: Torrent

My early pick for my favorite is, naturally, the water type. Gecqua (Gecko Aqua) is a little too reminiscent of Sobble, but with sass instead of sadness. And by design alone (and water bias), this is my pick so far.

Let us know in the comments below which Gen10 Starter you’re looking forward to, or if you can’t choose just yet either. As usual, it may depend on the final evolutions and how bad-ass those are since those are the ones you’ll be stuck with after a while. But there’s plenty of time for talk for now.
