It looks like that Zelda-tinted Crypt of the NecroDancer could come out this month

A maybe for May

Incredible looking games with vague release dates pop up all the time. At this point I’m kind of immune to them: when they come they come, there’s no point in worrying about it. Cadence of Hyrule is one of those jams.

It was revealed last month as a surprise mic drop on a Nindie Direct showcase video, and we’ve kind of been waiting for its “spring 2019” arrival.  Well, according to some folks who have obtained an official Nintendo email, it looks like May is on the table. The notification simple states “What to expect in May!” and listed right after the May 21 release of a trio of old Resident Evil games (RE1, RE0, RE4) is Cadence of Hyrule. The title of the email says it all, even if we don’t get an actual date.

Although I’ll see it when I see it, I am interested in whether or not this will be as long as the original Crypt of the NecroDancer, and whether or not it’ll get its own DLC line. Nintendo doesn’t just dole out their licenses to third party developers so willingly, but the Big N has been getting out of their comfort zone quite a bit with the Switch: and it’s paying off.
