Bethesda just surprise launched The Elder Scrolls: Castles, a Fallout Shelter-style simulation set in The Elder Scrolls universe. As one does when a surprise video game comes out, you’re probably here because you want to play this… but then you noticed The Elder Scrolls: Castles appears to have skipped iOS.
Unfortunately, as of right now, The Elder Scrolls: Castles is not on iOS. Android users can download it just fine, but iPhone and iPad users seem to be left out. Given that this launched with literally no fanfare, we can’t say for sure what the plan is here. We’ll update this page as we learn more about Bethesda’s new mobile game.
Will The Elder Scrolls: Castles ever be on iOS?
Ultimately, we’re so early on this that we just have to wait and see what Bethesda says. Having said that, the Google Play page for the game does state the game is in early access. Typically, mobile games in beta or early access tend to stay on Android, with an iOS client coming out after the official launch. This isn’t always the case, but it may explain why this one remains Android exclusive for now.
Alternatively, the game may still be in an approval process before it debuts on the Apple App Store. Since The Elder Scrolls: Castles was a total surprise, we may merely be seeing a small snafu that will resolve in a day or two. This would be the more optimistic scenario, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up until we know for sure. Again, only Bethesda knows the situation here.
Stay tuned as we learn more about this surprise release.
