Helldivers 2 arrived with a low rumble before erupting into a violent storm. The game has become a smash hit success for Sony and developer Arrowhead Games, and pursuers of Liberty can play it on PC and the PlayStation 5. But can you enjoy Helldivers 2 with a PS4?
Helldivers 2 is not on PS4. It’s a shame, but Arrowhead announced the game for PS5 and PC only with no hint that it’ll show on the decade-old platform. And it’s that latter fact that stands as the likely reason why. Helldivers 2 may not match Alan Wake 2 visuals, but it’s still an attractive game with a lot going on.
Helldivers 2 is not on PS4 and may not ever be
Considering what the horde game already does to my PlayStation 5, I’m not surprised that Helldivers 2 won’t be on PS4. I’ve witnessed the white behemoth chug after I tossed an Eagle 500kg Bomb into a group of about 30 bugs. The shock, awe, and death animations of dozens of bugs or bots seem to be a lot for the console. I imagine that’s why PS4 owners will end up going without the experience.
You can play Helldivers 2 on PC and PS5 today. The game is cross-platform as well, which means you’ll get paired up with divers on both the PS5 and Steam. If you don’t own the former platform, you may consider checking the PC requirements to see if you match up. Based on my earlier anecdote, you may be concerned about how demanding the game can be.
The minimum specs aren’t too terrible, though. You should be in the clear if you own something like a GTX 1050 Ti or Radeon RX 470 GPU. I would feel more comfortable with the recommended GPUs, which are the RTX 2060 or Ryzen 7 3700X.
