The newest installment of the Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare 3, launched its campaign early for Vault Edition owners. With many finishing the story, it’s left players wondering if DLC is coming out due to its loose ends.
The third entry of the rebooted Modern Warfare subseries of Call of Duty games, Modern Warfare 3 continues where Modern Warfare 2 ended. An illusive new threat, Makarov, has made his move. It’s up to Task Force 141, led by Captain Price, to stop him before it’s too late.
As of writing, no campaign DLC is planned for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. However, due to the short nature of the story, one can assume it might be in the works. This would be a first for the series, as no other entries have had single-player story DLC.
SPOILER WARNING for those who haven’t played Modern Warfare 3!

A Bitter ending
As a refresher, Modern Warfare 3‘s campaign ends with the deaths of John “Soap” MacTavish and General Shepherd by Makarov and Price, respectively. Makarov escapes with minor injuries after a gunfight in the train tunnels and Task Force 141 defuses the bomb before it detonates. The team then spread Soap’s ashes to the wind, vowing to stop Makarov and others. Shepherd, out of allies, finds himself looking at Price’s suppressed pistol in his office. The game ends with a gunshot and Shepherd’s lifeless body face down on his desk.
As the story is only four to five hours compared to the usual seven or eight, it feels more like an appetizer than an entree. The campaign was initially planned as DLC for Modern Warfare 2, so it feels weird that they wouldn’t change anything. Still, it’d be disappointing if this was all there was to offer, as years past have done much better.
