Interview reveals Wind Waker Link for Brawl, Final Fantasy VII writer co-plotter

Though parts three, four, and five lack the creepy stalker talk that made part two such a delightful read, these latest installments in a series of ongoing interviews between Nintendo of Japan President Satoru Iwata and Super Smash Bros Masahiro Sakurai still yield some interesting information.

Though it’s old news now, part three revealed that Kazushige Nojima, co-writer of Final Fantasy VII helped in the writing of Brawl’s adventure mode, causing many a fanboy to proclaim “CLOUD CONFIRMED FOR BRAWL!” More excitingly, part Five of the interview actually did reveal confirmation of a new character for Brawl. Sakurai let the info slip in answering a question about the development of the game’s character designs for when he said, “Take The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess from the Zelda series for example. We were able to design the Smash Bros. characters by adapting them just as they were modeled for the original titles.”

The game hits Japan in just three days. I’m going to miss all this pre-release giddyness.

Thanks, RJG.
