Interesting Wii information in the form of … a Pachinko game?

Recommended Videos

If you are anything like me, you have probably said to yourself on many different occasions — “Why should I be interested in the upcoming Japanese Wii game Jissen Pachinko/Pachislot Hisshouhou! Sammy’s Collection Hokuto no Ken Wii?”

Well, funny you should ask …

Although the game will most likely never make it to America (it is a Pachinko game after all), what is interesting about Jissen (that is what all the cool people are calling it) is that it supports the Mii and Wi-Fi capabilities of the Wii … and it is being produced by a third-party.

There has been a lot of talk lately about how Nintendo has not provided any third-parties with the necessary tools to use Miis (or even on-line capabilities) in their games.

With the inclusion of these elements in Jissen, does this mean that Nintendo has finally stopped being that mean old lady next door who keeps all your footballs and actually decided to let publishers expand some of their Wii horizons?

Who knows for sure, but if Jissen is any indication, more on-line games and Mii usage should be right around the corner (great news for my little Mii Bjork — she has been jonesing for some gaming action that isn’t tennis or bowling).

What do you think? Are you excited that the Wii may finally be moving into more on-line territory? Or is Nintendo so far behind Xbox Live and the just announced PlayStation Home that they might as well just focus on other things rather than try to catch up?
