Jason Rohrer’s new game is a top-down shooter called Inside a Star-Filled Sky. It’s both my favorite title of his to date, and also the hardest for me to wrap my head around.
Granted, it may not give off that vibe from the screenshots. But, here’s the gist: you can go inside of enemies and items on a nearly endless basis to alter your abilities and also the abilities of your foes. Sort of like Disgaea‘s mechanic, in a way.
If such a notion sounds interesting to you, throw in procedural generation, a significant amount of depth beyond the quick overview I’m giving here, and that’s essentially Inside a Star-Filled Sky. $1.75, free of DRM, and available for PC/Mac/Linux — give it a shot.
