Industry greats talk interaction fiction, storytelling

This video found on Game Theory is pretty cool. Some of the game industry’s legends regarding interactive storytelling, like Richard Garriott and Jane Jensen, pitch in on the rise and fall of the importance of storytelling in games.  They talk about the early days of adventure games, the shift to 3D action games and how both are now coming together in a way to tell interactive stories through different narrative approaches.

It’s interesting stuff if you can ignore the hyperactive cuts, flips and sound effects during the interviews — less of that next time guys, thanks! Also, the Assassin’s Creed II writer looks like they took him out of the Animus for the video interview. Nonetheless, give it a look.
