Atlus parent company Index Corporation is in trouble. In debt and under investigation for fraud, the holdings company is entering “civil rehabilitation proceedings” in hopes of saving its own skin before its legal and financial woes spiral out of control.
Index is cognizant that its games division is the most desirable and profitable aspect of its business. The firm is looking to partner with another group or potentially sell Atlus before the Persona studio and popular localization house are impacted by the maelstrom.
