I’m retiring from my editor-in-chief job, so let’s have a contest!

Congratulations you’re on the way out

It’s been a good year for Destructoid. We got more unique views in June 2015 than any other month in the history of the website. There are a lot of reasons for that, not the least of which being that our staff has worked their butts off to up both the quality and quantity of their output. We also put out three of the most watched videos in the history of our YouTube channel this year, while working to expand both the breadth and depth of our original content with more guest editorials from game developers, more reviews, more comedy, and even a gosh darn magazine (available for free download here, enter code DTOID0215).

Dtoid was in good shape when I took over the editor-in-chief position last year, and I’m happy to say it’s in even better shape now. That’s part of why I’ve decided to pass the torch to a new crew of enthusiastic managers and step back into the role of content contributor. We’ll have more to say about those plans later, but for now, I just want to say thank you to everyone in the Dtoid community — staff, cbloggers, commenters, and lurkers alike, for making my time as editor-in-chief such a wonderful and exciting experience. I love you all, even the grumpy ones.

As a parting gesture, Dtoid and GameFan will be giving out free copies of our print magazine to ten lucky readers. All you have to do to enter is click on this and retweet it, or if you don’t like Twitter, just leave a comment here about why you love video games. Winners will be announced next Monday, July 13.

I hope you go for it. I sure am glad that I did.
