I’m back!

You may be asking yourself: Who the fuck is Robert Summa? And why is he saying he’s back? And why is he calling me a bitch?

For those of you too young to remember a baby Dtoid, I’m the former editor-in-chief of this unholy place. Back when the Robot was merely a glimmer in Niero’s eye, I hopped aboard his back of circuits and steered Destructoid into a somewhat respectable game blog.

Seven years later, I’m so very proud to see how far this place has come and how passionate the fans and readers continue to be. Even though my final days at Destructoid seven years ago was a bit rocky for some, I hope those that remember me can understand everything comes from a place of love, a love we all share of video games and gaming culture.

So why am I back? The answer is pretty simple. I want to be. I want to be that voice again for the common gamer. I want to point out the bullshit and hypocrisy. I don’t want publishers or anyone else in the gaming community to get away with shit and I want the best for everyone. How we get there is part of the fun.

But will I still post mundane shit? Absolutely. Will it make you smile? I fucking hope so.

I don’t want to make this a completely long-winded post, because frankly, a lot of the details of my past, present and future can be discussed in a longer form (video, podcast, backdoor alleys, etc.). Also, the majority of you just don’t care and nor should you. This site is for you and for your gaming itches.

For the time being, here is a quick breakdown of what I can’t stand in today’s modern video game landscape:

    • DLC that splits communities
    • Pre-orders
    • Console exclusives
    • Microtransactions
    • Broken Day One games
    • My stupid PS4 sticks that are falling apart
    • Anything related to Gamergate (I simply do not care)
    • The whole remaster trend

I guess that’s about it for now. I’m sure you’ll get a great sense of my being as time goes on.

For now, let’s just enjoy the ride.
