iam8bit’s Mega Man 2 and X reproduction carts are now available

Relive the glory days

Capcom and iam8bit have finally released their reproduction carts of both Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X. Announced earlier in the year with a production run of 8,500 units each, you can now grab both games for $100 a pop. Mega Man 2 will come in a light blue cart while X is in a white one. For an added surprise, one-in-eight carts (roughly 1,000 units) will come in a special glow-in-the-dark blue variant that looks just incredible.

In addition to the game, you’ll also get a recreated instruction manual, a gatefold foil box, and other “retro surprises”. Mega Man 2’s manual contains a forward written by author Salvatore Pane and Mega Man X has one written by YouTuber Jirard “The Completionist” Khalil.

While most people might balk at the price, I honestly don’t think this is a bad deal. Sure, $100 is crazy when you think of it as just the game, but the work being done to get officially licensed copies of games on original hardware needs to be commended. That you’re also getting extra collector’s material is also a great bonus.
