I have never seen Luigi so utterly disrespected like this

Spot the difference

Look, we’re all in agreement that it’s still the Year of Luigi right? Despite the “extension” from 2013 to 2014, I’ve kind of just assumed that it was indefinite. So why do they have to do my player-two boy like this?

As a reader has pointed out, several retailers have new box art for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury on Switch that differs from the original Wii U box. It took me around five seconds to spot the main difference: it completely eliminates the Cat Luigi from the cover art.

Cat Mario and Cat Peach. They’re good! In fact, Cat Mario was even crudely copy and pasted from the middle of the box to the left side with a slightly different pose. The Switch box art varies by region, and I’ve even seen one version with Luigi in it, but Amazon and Target are rocking that Luigi-free life.

Do we need Reggie to come back to Nintendo just to recertify the Year of Luigi “officially?” Make it so, Nintendo. In the meantime, fix this injustice!
