Hunt-a-thons in Monster Hunter Now, explained

I just need friends to fight them with

If you’re a Monster Hunter Now player, you may be a bit confused by the new Hunt-a-thon feature. Many have speculated this upcoming mode is like Pokemon GO’s raid battles, which is… maybe correct from the looks of things.

As of the Fulminations of the Frost update, Hunt-a-thons will pit hunters against several monsters in a row. To begin a Hunt-a-thon, players will need to find specially marked gathering points that will become Hunt-a-thon nodes. These points of interest will have a 30 minute heads-up before they become Hunt-a-thons. Once they are live, players will have another 30 minutes to take down five monsters in a row. Certain monsters, such as Zinogre, will be exclusively found via Hunt-a-thons.

Though the Fulminations of the Frost update is live now, Hunt-a-thons will officially enter the game on December 15.

What is the cooldown for Hunt-a-thons?

Hunters can participate in Hunt-a-thons every 180 minutes, or three hours. If you find another Hunt-a-thon and want to participate in it earlier, you’ll need to purchase a Hunt-a-thon Ticket. These will cost 150 gems, or about $2.

Granted, for free-to-play players, you’ll most likely be better off waiting the three hours between raids rather than burning gems on Tickets. There doesn’t seem to be any way to earn Gems in-game, so you’ll probably want to save them for whenever you really need them.

What are the requirements to participate in a Hunt-a-thon?

Anyone who has achieved Rank 11 can participate in Hunt-a-thons. Monsters in Hunt-a-thons are stronger than the beasts you see out in the wild, so tackling them with a party is encouraged. However, nothing’s stopping you from taking on a Hunt-a-thon by yourself.

Since Hunt-a-thons have yet to officially hit the game, we’re still learning more about this new feature. Stay tuned as we get closer to the feature’s release on December 15.
