When it comes to sports anime, one of the most popular of all time is Haikyu!! with its massive following and success. When it comes to the anime adaptation of the beloved volleyball series, there are lots of different standalone episodes, seasons, and even movies. Here is the correct Haikyu!! watch order for anyone just getting into the series.

How to watch Haikyu!! in order: Season 1

Your time watching Haikyu!! in order begins with the first season of the series. This season spans the first 25 episodes of the anime series. Alternatively for all four seasons, you can watch the compilation anime films, but they just recap the series in a shorter timeframe. They sometimes have an extra new scene, but it is usually fairly inconsequential. This season first aired from April 2014-September 2014.

The Arrival of Lev OVA

After finishing the first season, be sure to check out this OVA episode. Though most of the OVA episodes are non-canon, they usually give some neat details into the team and various other characters. This particular OVA episode features a fascinating new character in Haiba Lev.

Season 2

Watch Season 2 after this, which features episodes 26-50. It originally aired from October 2015-March 2016.

Vs. Failing Grades OVA

Once you are done with the second season of the series, it is now time to take a quick break and check out this singular, standalone OVA episode. This particular one focuses on Hinata and Kageyama’s failing grades, which is holding them back.

Season 3

Following the previous OVA episode, it is now time to watch the penultimate season of the series: Season 3. This is by far the oddest season since it is so much shorter than the previous ones. It is only 10 episodes in length, spanning episodes 51-60. It originally was released from October 2016-December 2016.

Following Season 3, watch this standalone episode about the Miyagi Prefecture Spring Interhigh Qualifier matches.

This is a crucial OVA episode that should be watched next. It focuses on the final three open spots in the Tokyo Qualifiers.

Haikyu!! The Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump

The conclusion of the Haikyu!! storyline is almost here. The grand finale of the entire series is happening across two brand new, must-watch anime films. The first one, Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump, released in Japan on February 16, 2024. Crunchyroll will be releasing the film internationally in the near future.
