How to use the Hourglass in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Time or space can't stop you

If you purchase the Rift in Time DLC for Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll not only get a whole new island to explore, new characters and a long list of new content, but you’ll also get a new tool – the Royal Hourglass.

This Hourglass can be used in a variety of ways, but they all have one thing in common: allowing you to bend time and space in order to find new treasures which can be used in crafting.

The Royal Hourglass is also the main way that you will gain Mist, which works the same as Dreamlight in the Valley, allowing you to unlock new areas of Eternity Isle or upgrade your Hourglass and other tools.

With the hourglass equipped, press the left mouse button (or A on a gamepad) to use the Hourglass to guide you to hidden treasures.

If you’re far away, the semicircular glow will be blue, with sparkles pointing you in the right direction. As you get closer, the glow will turn to yellow and then orange when you’re right on top of the treasure.

Once you’ve found a portal, press the action button repeatedly and very quickly in order to pull the treasure through time and space, until it’s in your clutches.

You can also pull other things out of the Rift, such as gifts suited to specific Villagers.

Every so often, on both Eternity Isle and in the Valley itself, you’ll see glowing time spheres floating above the landscape. These are called Time Rifts and if you trigger them with your Hourglass, they will expand into a circle and you’ll have a limited amount of time to find treasures continuously within this circle.

Be warned, if you step foot outside of this circle, the timer will end prematurely and you’ll lose out on valuable treasures. I’ve found that most of the treasures in these Time Rift circles appear near the edge, so be careful you don’t go one step too far in search of them.

The Timebending Table works the same as the Crafting Bench. A lot of the items pulled from portals will allow you to craft items at the Timebending Table which can’t be crafted any other way.

Upgrading the Hourglass will not only offer a wider variety of treasures that could possibly be found from portals, but will also open up the opportunity to craft potions for your tools, allowing you to rid Eternity Isle of more obstacles.

Each level also comes with upgraded versions of the three Ancient Machines, allowing them to perform more efficiently wherever you put them.

Here’s the full list of upgrades and their cost:

Level 210,000 Mist
