How to use Pals as mounts in Palworld

Hop on and venture far

There are a few Pals roaming Palapagos which can be even more useful than simply being on your team and having your back during a fight. Some of them can be used as a mount to help you traverse the wilds and even have special attacks to use while doing so. Here’s how to turn your Pals into mounts.

To tell if you can use a Pal as a mount, add it to your party and release it from its Pal Sphere. If there’s a locked icon of a bucking stallion at the bottom of your screen, it’s possible to use that Pal as your Mount.

There are some Pals, like Hangyu which can be used in place of your Parachute.

Before you can use a Pal as a mount, you have to unlock the Pal Gear Workbench and unlock the corresponding item in the Technology ladder which unlocks the craft.

For example, in order to use Grintale as a mount, you must first unlock the Grintale Saddle from the Technology ladder.

For the most part, these items within the Technology ladder will be shown as question marks until you’ve captured the associated Pal, so make sure to check back as you capture more Pals to see if there’s a mount associated with them.

You don’t need to equip these items once they’ve been crafted, simply crafting it unlocks the ability to mount the respective Pal. In order to mount a Pal, it just needs to be in your party and out of its Pal Sphere.

One important factor to consider is the passive traits of a Pal you intend to use as a mount. Pals with the “Swift” or “Motivational Leader” traits have a higher mount speed, with Swift Pals making the quickest mounts.

You need a flying mount

There are so many areas of the map that are completely inaccessible without a flying mount. Most of the birds can be used for this purpose, but my choice is Nitewing.

When using a flying mount, you can soar above the map and unlock new areas quickly, without having to traverse the landscape or risk death via swimming. You use stamina while flying and fall to the ground when your stamina is completely depleted, but you do not suffer fall damage.
