That is, if you don’t know where to look or how to make use of the true potential of the Mirrors of Life. This guide will cover how to unlock The Sage card in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, as well as how to use it to upgrade The Cursed into The Self.

How to unlock The Sage card in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

Unlike most cards, The Sage won’t require defeating a boss. Instead, you can unlock it after freeing Eleanor from the Hall of Mirrors. Something you can do by first speaking to her at the Mirror of Life in the Main Hall’s Ballrooms.

From there, head to all of the locations below, and hold down while in front of each mirror for a few seconds to enter its room, defeat its enemies, and destroy its seal. You can also fast travel to the mirror closest to each by crouching in front of them and using the Hall of Mirrors.

With all seals broken, return to Eleanor one more time before entering her mirror and unlocking the main Hall of Mirrors area. The objective now is simple: navigate through the area while interacting with the mirrors to unlock a path to the Succubus. Defeating her will both clear the map and net you the Temptress card.

With the new card at hand, you can head down to see Eleanor’s message, or skip that and meet her at Holy Innocents’ Cemetery’s Tomb of the Noble Queen right away. Once at the area, a cutscene will play out, allowing you to unlock The Sage card.

How to Unlock The Self in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

With The Sage at hand, you will ideally have all of the pieces needed to unlock Rose’s true power and The Self tarot card. To do that, visit the Room of the Four Virtues in Notre-Dame and interact with all stained glass portraits while equipped with the following Arcana (in that order). Each will offer a challenge, which must be completed.

  • The Warrior > The Whisperer > The Judge > The Sage

Once all challenges are done, simply interact with the central portrait to trigger the Self boss fight. As a true Shadow, she will make use of all of your weapons and be capable of healing. Upon defeating the boss, Rose will unlock The Self.

Defeating the boss also allows you to unlock the Doppleganger skin. To see how to unlock all others, check out our Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse skin guide.
