The Modification Station allows us to improve our tools in Subnautica 2 vastly, allowing us to explore the late-game content in the current early access build. We can use the station to improve our Tadpole submarine and upgrade tools like the Sonic Resonator.

The first task is to unlock the blueprint.

Modification Station blueprint location in Subnautica 2

To unlock the Modification Station, you’ll have to scan just one blueprint. You can find the blueprints at multiple locations, but I have stuck to the easiest one in this guide. To reach this location, you won’t need any advanced tools. However, I recommend using the Wakemaker to cover the distance quickly.

Head out about 1300m from the lifepod to the east, and you’ll find the Alien Ruins. You’ll find the Research Outpost at a depth of about 140m (to the left of the large alien tower). If you’ve dived too deep, use the space bar to ascend.

Head in through the entrance, and you’ll find the Engine Efficiency upgrade on your right. Next, go in through the main tunnel and turn right. You’ll find the Modification Station; complete the scan, and the blueprint will be available.

Once you’re back home, you can now place the Modification Station using your Habitat Builder (assuming you have the resources). Open the station, and you’ll find a list of all the available modifications, all of which have different resource costs.

The modification will be applied automatically once you craft it using the Modification Station.
